Old Goals

For 2025 my goals were:

Intention for the year:

I want to be the healthiest version of myself that I can be.

January:

  • Yoga twice a week.
  • Make plans for the times I am prone to falling off-track with my goals (such as when vertigo hits). Also plan out non-monetary rewards. -Success!

February:

  • No goal set.

March:

  • Recover from illness.
  • Resume Karin Dmitrova's Beyond Flexibility program three times a week by month's end. -Failure :(

April (forgot what goals I set):

  • Beyond Flexibility three times a week - Failure
  • Focus on increasing fibre - Failure

May:

  • Continue stretching calf muscles daily. - Failure
  • Measure food portions for better carb counting. -Success (kind of?)

For June I started trying microresolutions rather than goals. 

For 2024 my goals were:

  1. Lose 5lbs by March 31st (be 219.8lbs or less) -failed (Apr 1 weight was 228.2)
    1. Yoga Exercise 2x a week (preferably yoga, but other activities are fine too)
      • Adjusted from Yoga 2x week on Feb 9 2024
    2. Eat restaurant food 1x every 2 weeks
    3. No food from the breakroom
  2. Focus on healing my back in April and May 2024 -Success! (next chiropractor appointment is four weeks later in June!)
    1. Yoga for back once a week minimum
    2. Choose healthier choices when eating out
    3. Read the book on back pain and hopefully use its advice to help!
Going to try one big goal for the last 6 months of 2024 (July to December), and smaller monthly goals every month to help me build healthier habits (and support the larger goal):

  •  Six month goal: lose 18lbs by December 31st 2024.
    • July goal weight: 227lbs, reward - watch YogaBody Master Class - weight achieved: 229.6 :(
    • August goal weight: 224lbs, reward - buy a movie from Google Play TV - weight achieved: 228.6 :(
    • September goal weight: 221lbs -not achieved
    • October goal weight: 218lbs - not achieved 
    • November goal weight: 215lbs
    • December goal weight: 212lbs
  • July goal: Yoga for back twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays or Fridays most likely). - Success!
    • Reward for successfully doing yoga twice a week for two weeks: download 5 songs on iTunes
    • Reward for successfully doing yoga twice a week for four weeks: buy a new nail polish colour for August!
  • August goal: Walk once a week. - Success!
    • Reward for successfully walking two weeks: download 5 songs on iTunes
    • Reward for successfully walking four weeks: download the Solitudes album I want.
    • Bonus: Reward for continuing yoga twice a week minimum (does not need to be yoga for back): buy the in-game DLC I want. 
  • September goal: Continue walking once a week and yoga twice a week.
    • Reward for continuing walking once a week: download 5 songs on iTunes
    • Reward for continuing yoga twice a week: buy in-game DLC I want
  • October: No goal set.
  • November: No goal set.

For 2023 my goals were:

  1. Lose (and keep off) 15lbs by the end of the year (be under 197lbs). 
  2. Do a workout to help my back twice a week, and do some stretches for my back every day. 
  3. Sleep 7 hours or more per night.
But by early March I realized that this was not going to work for me, and decided to try monthly goals instead. The first monthly goal was in May 2023.
    • May 2023: 5 minutes of yoga or stretching every day -failed
    • June 2023**: No goal set 
    • July 2023: Get through Karin Dimitrova's Reset Program -failed
    • August 2023: No goal set
    • September 2023: From Sept 7-30th, do at least a 10 minute workout every day.
Mid September 2023, I was grieving and decided not to worry about goals for now. I need time to process.

**As of June 2023, I decided to try aiming for 20 days of the month as a success for monthly goals, rather than 80%. 80% wasn't working for me, especially when things like sickness and holidays happen.

For 2022 my goals were:

  1. Lose (and keep off) 20lbs by the end of the year (be under 197lbs). -failed
  2. Work out for 150 minutes a week - including non-walking activities (yoga/stretching/workout videos are preferred, but this is open to other activities like shovelling, swimming, or skiing) two times per week. -failed
  3. Spend 1 hour every week on something I've been putting off. -deliberately failed
  4. Make 13 new recipes this year -success!

For 2021 my goals were:

  1. Workout for 150 minutes a week -failed
  2. Make a new recipe every month -success!
  3. Do a monthly check-in on this blog -failed

For 2020 my goals were:

  1. Workout for 150 minutes a week -failed
  2. No eating chips, chocolate, and other treats at work (with the caveat that I can eat some sweets if I go low) -success!
  3. Make a new recipe every month -partial success (made 19 recipes over the year, but missed making something new in 3 months)

For 2019 my goals were:

  1. Eat out only once a week or less - failed
  2. Try 1 new recipe every two weeks - failed
  3. Exercise 60+ minutes (not counting walking) every week - failed

    For 2018* my goals were:

    1. Walk 5000+ steps on five days of every week * LOST FITBIT failed
    2. Eat "out" one time a week MAXIMUM * (out = restaurant, fast food, or freezer deep fried food)   failed
    3. 60 minutes of non-walking every week * - failed
    4. Weight to 190 lbs - failed
    *As of 2018, I am considering a success for most goals to be 80%.  So if I walk 5000+ steps 5/7 days 80% of the year, that goal is a success.  This does not apply to weight goals.

       For 2017 my goals were:

      1. Walk 5000+ steps on five days of every week - failed
      2. Swim twice a week every week - failed
      3. Control my food portions - failed

      For 2016 my goals were:

      1. Eat healthier - failed
      2. Be more active - failed
      3. Take better care of my diabetes
