Water

One thing that I have been doing the last few months is making an effort to drink more water. And I am amazed at the difference in the way I've felt!

First of all, I feel really dry if I drink pop. Before I could easily down a couple glasses of say diet 7up. But now, I can drink one, and even then I'll often feel dry afterwards. The same goes for Mike's Hard.

I also used to drink lots of skim milk. Over the last few months, instead of say two glasses per meal, I'll drink only one glass at breakfast, and another one at supper. So now I'm a lot closer to meeting Canada's Food Guide daily recommendation of dairy.

I've also been happy to find that tea seems to work like water, which is perfect for when I need something to warm me up! Although I do still get the odd hot chocolate when I go out for coffee with friends, I seem to be drinking more tea instead, which is also better for me (less sugar=less insulin used, also less calories).

Another thing that I've noticed is around my period. The first day or two, I used to get bad cramps. But now, if I do get cramps, they're easily managable.

So all in all, I think choosing water was a really great thing for me to do!
